Product Description
The MEGA O.I.S. (Optical Image Stabilizer) compensates for the blurring caused by hand-shake. Even slight hand-shake movement is accurately detected by a sampling frequency of 4,000 times per second, and compensated to produce sharp, clear images.
In the iA (Intelligent Auto) Mode, the camera does all the work, leaving you free to compose shots and capture moments.
The DMC-S5 (16.1-megapixel CCD) / S2 (14.1-megapixel CCD) features a 28mm wide-angle lens* with 4x optical zoom (35mm equivalent: 28-112mm). The 28mm wide-angle lens lets you easily capture large groups of people indoors or expansive architectural structures and scenes with dynamic width and rich perspective, even from short distances. iA Zoom
The iA Zoom (Intelligent Zoom) is an extensive zoom function using digital zoom, however, you can even draw the subject 2x closer than the original optical zoom with minimum deterioration of image quality thanks to the Intelligent Resolution technology The DMC-S5/S2 can record motion images in high-definition (1,280 x 720 pixels in Motion JPEG format). • QuickTime Motion JPEG. • Some lens movement sounds may be recorded. • In Motion Picture Mode, the length of recording time depends on the capacity of the SD/SDHC/SDXC Memory Card. (Up to the equivalent of 2 GB per motion-image recording.) • For Europe, motion images can be recorded continuously for up to 15 minutes. • Use a card with SD Speed Class* with “Class 6” or higher when recording motion images. * SD speed class is the speed standard regarding continuous writing. • SDHC Memory Cards and SDXC Memory Cards can be used only in equipment that is compatible with their respective formats. • If the computer being used does not support SDXC Memory Cards, a message prompting you to format may appear. (Doing so will cause recorded images to be erased so do not choose to format.) If the card is not recognized, please refer to the below support site.
The Panorama Shot Mode makes it is possible to shoot a horizontal / vertical panoramic image with consequent shots taken by overlaying the previous image. The Auto Retouch function adjusts contrast and brightness to give different impression to the photo with just a press of a button. Appropriate retouch is automatically applied depending on the image – if the image was shot too dark, it can be clear and bright to look it nicer with this function. Function are available:-
Features Intelligent Resolution Technology: With the Intelligent Resolution technology, 3 areas - outlines, detailed texture areas and soft gradation areas - are automatically detected and optimum signal processes are performed to each area. Apart from the uniform enhancement of sharpness, the innovative technology Intelligent Resolution precisely performs signal processing pixel by pixel in the most effective way for it.
Still Image Recording in Video Recording: It is possible to take a still image while recording a video simultaneously. This makes sure that you don't miss those decisive moments with either photos or videos, or both.
Cut Animation: You can cut out a clear still image from a video in the camera thanks to the Intelligent Resolution technology.
Video Divide: You can divide a video into two sections to shorten on the spot in the camera. Shooting Functions 4 Aspect Ratios Select from 16:9, 3:2, 1:1and conventional 4:3 to shoot in the framing aspect that best suits the photo's composition or purpose of use. 1:1 unique square frame adds to your image expression possibilities. The 16:9 ratio produces images that match the aspect ratio of an HDTV screen.
Macro Zoom You can pull subjects even closer than at the closest point possible with the wide-angle setting by using 3x digital zoom, and capture dramatic close-ups. Response 23-area AF / 11-area AF / 9-area AF This mode gives you a sharp focus for a variety of picture compositions. Quick AF Ordinary AF is activated when the shutter button is pressed half-way, while the Quick AF starts operating as soon as the camera is pointed toward a subject. This dramatically reduces the shutter delay time and lets you take images quickly.

Rotate the lever a small amount for slow zooming, and a larger amount for high-speed zooming. Zoom Resume: The Zoom Resume function stores the zoom position (magnification) in memory, so you can shoot with the same zoom setting once the power is turned on again. Program Shift: You can use Program Shift in Program AE Mode to keep the exposure fixed while changing the combination of shutter speed and aperture. Manual Exposure Assist: This function shows how much your setting differs from the setting the camera considers optimal. This serves as a convenient guide for anyone using the Manual Exposure Mode. Direct Exposure Compensation: You can retrieve the exposure compensation value and manually adjust it directly with the jog dial.
Maximum ISO Setting: The maximum sensitivity setting is applied to the Intelligent ISO Control and ISO AUTO functions. This ensures that you'll get the level of image quality you want by letting you set your own limit for ISO sensitivity.
